I'm not voting.

I'm a socialist, and since nobody in the election can accurately reflect my views on anything, voting would be rather pointless.

Unless you vote for someone that you think would lead the nation in the next four years towards a socialist prez.

Because there aren't that many socialists in the US.

It's probably just that too many people think of Cuba, Soviet Union, dictatorial communism, etc. when hearing mention of a "state-led economy".

Oh, and there is a Socialist ticket on the ballot. About 10,000 people voted Socialist in 2004. I believe in Democratic Socialism. The economic system should not be changed unless the people believe it should.

That crazy mormon guy is Mitt Romney... and if he is elected president I am seriously leaving the country. One of the worst things, is he claims that we should quit relying on foreign and domestic oil and should turn to alternative fuel sources, but he still support drilling ANWR in Alaska. That is an environmental NO NO. Plus he basically suck on civil rights issues, not just gay marriage, but he has an unsteady view on abortion as well.

You have some people supporting him, but talk to anybody from Massachusets... he is extremely unpopular in that state. How elected as governer there is beyond me. Mass is very liberal. But they have told me Mitt made a joke off Mass and dissapointed many people. Mitt is like the conservative version of liberal pussy Kerry.

Guliani would be a good president. I think he's pro-war, though.

Obama needs a bit more experience.

Hilary seems phony to me.

Edwards and Dodd are great, but I don't think they have enough name recognition.

Nader is close enough.  Universal health care, higher taxes on higher tax brackets, etc.

Beyond that, there are Democratic Socialist and Social Democrat parties in the US, both of which field presidential candidates.

I mostly support communism because I believe humans are not only obliged to receive life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but also clean water, food and housing... at no cost.

Communism never worked, and will never work. There is no motivation for work if the government pays for everything. In communism just about everything is dolphin noise quality, housing tends to be crap, food is crap, and housing is crap. Communism is very restrictive since the government owns everything, and controls everything.

And in a capitalist society, the streets are paved with gold, right? Everybody has a great house and adequate food, do they? Some people don't understand, communism isn't the opposite of democracy. In fact, the best kind of socialism is democratic socialism.

People in America are spoiled. They do not understand what a grand life they have, so they spit on it by talking about how much better it could be. Bring anyone over from Cuba or China and I guarantee they will find capitalism more favorable.

Bush, and I will explain why.

It wasn't his fault that 9/11 happened like most democrats will lead you to believe. Clinton made a major msitake before he left office and it was blamed on Bush. Now I trust Bush. Kerry on the other hand... he can't keep a stance on ONE not ONE issue. It is ok to change your mind but Kerry abuses the privelege. Plus he doesn't have a single idea what he is talking about.

I'm one. Though ineligible to vote...

If I could, I would have to pick Hillary, simply for the lack of a better option. I understand "Obamania" to an extent, but one must look somewhat to experience in a leadership role, as well as policies. I don't think Obama can fill the first. As well, I don't usually support Senators for Presidents, (Bill Clinton was a Governor, too) but Hillary has semi-Executive Branch experience to cancel that out...

Call me illogical.

Why?
Because everyone else hates her. That is why.

I just don't want her to be president because I am a little iffy about having a feminist president... also taking in consideration her right wing conspiracy theory rants. I don't care much for republicans or conservatives myself but she takes it a little over the top... she's literally the Anti-Ann Coulter.

With that said...

Why don't you want her to be president? Do you have a valid reason or are you just following what Mommy and Daddy say?

I'd want anyone besides Clinton as president. I hate her guts.
Why don't you want her to be president? Do you have a valid reason or are you just following what Mommy and Daddy say?
[/quote]
She's just stupid. First she stayed with Clinton after he cheated. (Though for the money ) Second basically every group she goes to she switches to a different thing she wants. Not one of the canidates besides her do that, if she's president she'd go by what is the most popular opinion. (We will support the war, then a couple months later the war must stop!) That's not how a good leader does things.

1. She forgave him. Isn't that the moral thing to do?

2. A good democratic leader won't listen to the people?

3. A LOT of politicians do that. And it's OK, because they obviously see mistakes in what they have done and try to change them. Hilary may seem fickle with her stance on the war, but people who still think it is justified are just idiots!

Are you under the FALSE assumption that I support her? I was simply telling him to have an actual opinion rather then just going along with what everyone else said. If you read my posts, you would know I support Dennis Kucinich so far.

And you will find many political candidates shift opinions on their issues quite often. And who cares about her sexual life? (or lack thereof) That has no basis in electing a president. They could be having sex with animals for all I care. If they have a good stance on issues that are important to me that is all that matters. Someone's private sex life does not determine what kind of president they will be.

1. Nah, she didn't ever really care. She only married him out of convenience for herself, and she stayed with him for her own positions. All she cares about is status. Nonetheless, I personally couldn't care less why she chose to marry that bum nor why she's stayed with him.

2. I think you know what he meant. There is a difference between listening to the people and licking your finger to figure out which way the wind blows.

Seriously people, don't be stupid (this is for everyone). Don't try to make something mean something TOTALLY different when you know what the author meant. We are all supposed to be on a semi-decent intellectual level, which means we don't need every living thing quite literally spelled out.

1. Have you any evidence of this?

2. Either way you take it, he is still basically saying a president should stick to their own personal agenda, and not the agenda of the people which they are governing. The Constitution was made to promote the welfare of the people.

I'd rather have a president who sticks to his/her beliefs and doesn't waver...Maybe I agree with all his/her stances or maybe I don't, but they would be infinitely better than someone who just tells you what you want to hear.

I agree with you on that. A president should stick with his beliefs, but when the majority of his citizens are dissatisfied with a certain thing, he should listen to them. After all, in a democracy, the people are the leaders.

This is why people should do their research on a candidate's beliefs before voting for them, so there will be no surprises when it comes to decisions made on certain issues.

Right, but not everything is fait accompli as soon as a leader is elected. If we were so sure that people didn't want to change the Constitution, then we'd have not allowed amendments.

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is in the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

Oh I agree, nothin is set in stone once someone is elected.  I'm just talkin about the candidate's stances on the majority of pressing issues.  If another issue came up and the majority of the people demanded a certain action, he should listen unless his beliefs tell him otherwise...Then he's in a dilemma.

This is why liberal candidates are flawed... they switch their stances on issues far too often. And conservatives stances on issues are usually or the wrong reasons. Bleh. Politicians are all criminals IMO. If you read back, you will find that the electoral process was not even DESIGNED for career politicians.

Yup.  And you can't say that one party is corrupt and one isn't because both parties have plenty of corrupt politicians.  You gotta look on the level of the individual, not the entire party.  Honestly the two party system sometimes does more bad than good cuz ignorant people base their decisions soley on what party the candidate stands for and not so much on what his beliefs and stances are.  If you just grabbed a couple of the best-suited candidates and ran them against each other with no labels or parties slapped on there, I think that would work nicely.  I align myself with the Republican party because a good majority of my beliefs are in-line with their stances...Doesn't mean I agree with everything the Republican party stands for.  I think the same is true for alotta other people, be 'em Republican, Democrat, or otherwise.  People get caught up in taking pre-drawn sides on everything.  Sorta stupid when you think about it.

It depends on where you live. :P In Alabama you don't register with a party, you just register. In primaries you decide whether to vote for Dems or Republicans. Only one or the other though.

Ron Paul seems good as well... I'm pretty sure he won't win, though. We'll see.

If I was registered as a Democrat, I would probably vote for Kucinich in the primary.  It would take several major miracles for him to actually get the nomination, let alone win the election.

Pragmatically, a vote for Obama would probably be better though, since the race is basically Obama vs. Clinton, and I would much prefer Obama.

I'm voting for Kucinich in our primary, but that's just because Michigan democrats are stupid and pushed our primary up so far that almost all the candidates backed out.

My top choice is Obama though.

Yea, I initially liked Ron Paul until I heard him say the other day "naaa, we're getting rid of the Education Department....gov't should have any hold in how our kids learn"

dolphin noise he took it too far :(

Basically:
If Ron Paul gets the nomination, I'd vote for him unless it was Ron Paul vs Obama. Then I'd vote Obama.

If it wasn't Ron Paul, then I'd probably vote for whoever the democrat was, but I'd have to look over their views.

Indeed, but you'd be hard pressed to find a candidate to whom Ron Paul was the lesser of two evils.
Mitt Romney for one... Mitt is the worst of all the Republican candidates... heck, I would even vote for BUSH over Romney. That is how bad I despise that man. And no, it is not because he is Mormon. I really just can't stand him. And as far as the education system goes, it is already messed up beyond repair... we'd need a superpresident to fix it. I dunno. It is still far too early to say who I will actually end up voting for.

And I DEFINATELY Won't vote for Obama... Obama changes who he is depending on who he is around... he has been known to campaign besides all sorts of sexists, bigots, and homophobes. I really dunno about Obama. He seems kinda shady to me.

Socialism is a good form of government.  It just takes a lot of work to achieve it.  And people tend to be power hungry so it's hard for those used to governments that promote individuals to leadership positions to grasp the concept and see where it really works.

But that's an entirely different debate.

I agree that her and Bill's sex life have nothing to do with the fact that she should be elected or not. She is just fake. That's the end of it. I mean sure women may get more rights with a women president, such as equal pay and such, but having her just isn't worth it. She only cares about herself.

As for Obama. He does seem a little shady, but I think he would do better then Hilary. It's quite amusing. When  the presidential voting comes mainly down to a white women and a black man. I never thought I'd see the day. I am glad though. I would have to say Obama would be the better choice. He doesn't seem as fake as Hilary, and ultimately I think it would be good for the country to have a black president.

Women get all spaztastic and emotional, and I just don't like women that much. She seems too power hungry to me. But it's whatever. That's my views on it.

I don't really like Hilary, all right I almost hate her. She reminds me of a bitchy soccer mom, or that teacher that everyone hated.

It's amazing how infamous Hillary is in this election... you either love her or hate her. There seems to be no middle ground. My biggest fear with her is her husband being a backseat president of sorts... you know, pretty much I can imagine him pretty much pushing Hillary to the side and presidenting everything himself.

I don't like how Obama's moving to the center for political gain. Just when I thought there was a presidential nominee who wouldn't play tricks...

Ugh. I hate this election. I'll vote for McCain, but only because I can't afford Obama. I dislike both candidates.

I think she's under the misconception that Obama plans on raising her taxes.
Title: Re: So, Who are you voting for in 08...

LOL, he IS going to raise taxes. He's already said so. I was actually going to vote for him before he said that (believe it!). If taxes get raised anymore I am in big trouble. I lose my house, and I gotta quit school and performing. And before anyone says "It's only for the rich", technically my family is the rich. And we can barely pay our bills and eat. I'm not even exaggerating. Sometimes I go to bed hungry just to save food for the rest of the family so there is enough until the next paycheck.

Especially during what ever you want to call the current state of the economy raising taxes would be a bad Idea since we need more money floating around in our economy. And I’m kinda upset that my school is raising its tuition $90 a quarter, which bites.
